Somatic Therapy and
Nature Connection with Gigi
I live and work on the unceded land of the Bunurong/BoonWurrung people of the Kulin nation.
I pay my respect to them and their enduring connection to the land and waters of this special place.
Come home to self,
come home to place…
Somatic Therapy
This is the cornerstone of my work, I believe we best heal the world one nervous system at a time.
I am a Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner, specialising in working with the impact of past and ongoing traumatic experiences, and helping people to understand and retrain their nervous systems.
This is a body based approached, which centres the physiological basis of trauma anxiety and stress, and seeks to restore nervous system capacity largely through practical, experiential interventions.
Telling and processing our story can be an important part of this journey, but this is not primarily a talk therapy. We aim to develop a good sense of our internal physical experience, and to work directly with that. We also build skills of connection to the present moment as a way of calming the brain.
Beyond the simple resolution of troubling symptoms, restoring the natural fluidity and function of the nervous system gives us the capacity to truly connect with others , with our creative energy and with life itself.
In my favourite moments doing this work I see people touch into a very deep place within, which I think of as the true self, the essence of being. This is a space where we can really thrive and bring forth our best gifts.

Nature Connection
Our bodies thrive in fresh air and attune to nature’s rhythms. Our nervous systems are soothed by the natural world, and there are many well documented benefits to mental health such as decreased anxiety, increased empathy, self-compassion, resilience and optimism.
I follow the core routines developed by American naturalist Jon Young over his many decades dedicated to exploring how to most efficiently facilitate a powerful connection between people and their environments. This work is ideally done in a group setting.
We come together to do practices which deepen our relationship with the natural world.
We sharpen our senses to observe more fully, we explore in playful ways, and above all we develop and follow our curiosity.
Humans are not separate from nature, and living as if we are has created all sorts of problems for us personally and collectively.
When we develop a deep relationship with the natural world we thrive, and when we do this together with other people the bonds between us grow stronger too.

Circle Facilitation
Gathering in Circle is an ancient practice of heartfelt sharing and respectful listening. The structure of the process facilitates deep connection and powerful transformation. We share one at a time without interruption or cross-talk, and we share our experiences rather than opinions.
It’s a very safe way to explore connection in groups whilst simultaneously diving deep on a theme or question. Humans have gathered around fires to tell stories and share their concerns and wisdom since time began, this is a profound tool for rebuilding connected communities.
Some of my circles focus on nervous system repair, others on nature connection and climate grief, while others are simply for sharing what is in our hearts, giving us the opportunity to be deeply received and to bear witness to one another.

Meet Gigi
A former ecologist, long-time meditator and yogi, I have always been fascinated by the human spirit and the beauty of the world we live in.
My vision for a resilient future is rooted in the simple medicine of nature’s wisdom – the healthy human nervous system keeping us happy and connected, in strong community and right relationship with the planet that sustains us.
Sessions with me
My 1:1 sessions take place online or in person, so it doesn’t matter where you are in the world, as long as we can make the time difference work.
In person sessions are held at beautiful historic Warrawee homestead in Balnarring Victoria. This makes a great day trip from Melbourne, you can combine with a walk on the beach or visit one of the cute villages nearby.
Working from the clinic also gives us the option to include touch work, as I have done specialist training in using touch to work with trauma and chronic illness. Touch is the first language of safety we have access to as an infant, so it has a powerful effect on the nervous system, signalling support and comfort. In this case there is no ‘working’ the tissues or transmitting energy, just a hand placed somewhere on the body to bring support to a particular part of the stress physiology, depending on what is presenting.
This is completely optional, we will only use touch if you feel completely comfortable with it and it’s particularly helpful in your circumstances.
I also offer outdoor sessions in nature, where we can meet for a wander or sit under a tree, or combine the two. This gives us the opportunity to bring in nature as a source of support, and for some people feels more enjoyable than meeting in clinic.
